Unique and thought-provoking show that gave us topics to discuss the rest of the evening. We certainly hope you'll continue to bring NPR-related shows such as this and the Moth.

We had only a vague idea what to expect. We listen to "This American Life" regularly, but how this would translate into a stage show with dancers was the tantalizing factor. Turns out, the show had all the charm and intellectual satisfaction of an episode of the radio show, with the added intrigue of "what will those dancers do with this?" If someone asked me what the show was about, I could explain it, but it would take a while. That's one measure for me of how excellent it was.

I thought it was one of the weaker performances I've seen at Hancher; the dance was repetitive; and Ira Glass's stories epically failed in their heteronormativity and in their weak inter-cohesiveness. But I still loved the performance and am inspired by the collaboration between artistic media. It's most riveting what Monica Bill Barnes has been doing with her company, taking it to unexpected venues and exposing new audiences to dance. I dare say a fair share of the Englert audience saw their first dose of modern dance in a long time. For Ira Glass and Monica Bill Barnes to pursue this kind of collaboration and bring it to us gives us some creative programming that the arts can use. And, of course, who better to bring that to Iowa than Hancher?
It was also wonderful that Glass showed us some of his elementary dance steps and that Anna Bass's voice was offered (through the taped interview.)

Absolutely wonderful! And in its own unique genre! I bought a ticket with some misgivings, and having no idea what to expect . . . and I am extremely glad I took the chance!

This production was excellent! Hancher should continue programs of this caliber. Three very talented individuals who are working well coordinated. It was a true joy.
