My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. I felt like Ms. Flack had the audience captivated from early on. During her 2nd song, “Will you still love me tomorrow”, I was choked up.
The seating was a little rough, with banquet-room style seats very close together, and the acoustics what one would expect in that type of room, but hey, soon the real Hancher will be back in business, and those conditions will improve. Ms. Flack’s band was great!
We think it’s grand that Hancher uses so many different resources to bring high quality artists to our community. We were very happy with the concert, and easily got our money’s worth!
Thank you,

The concert was fantastic.

Great concert. Even though she is old, she sang beautifully. The only negative is that it was listed as a 90 minute concert, but the concert was shorter. It started late and ended early. I had discounted tickets, so I didn’t mind. If I would have paid full price, I would have been disappointed.
Thanks!

We enjoyed the concert. I thought her band overpowered her somewhat but it was fun to hear a legend and to meet her after.

I was happy to see such an amazing artist. I was sad that the aging process is upon her. She put out 100% and I will cherish the event.

Always a privilege to see an icon. Venue setting sucked. Sound poor. Seating poor. Visual poor. Not to Hancher expected quality. Englert would have been more appropriate. At least they would have known how to position the artist in a way that you could see the performance. Very disappointing.

Roberta was ABSOLUTELY fabulous. Her voice is the very same. The backup band was incredible. We are soooo glad we went. Thank you.

I was very glad I went but disappointed at the stage setting. Part of going to a concert is being able to see the performer. I got a couple of side glimpses of Ms. Flack but otherwise all I got to see was her back. I have always loved her voice and did get to hear it but it sounded weak. I had waited a long time to see her. Was it worth what I paid? I would have to say no.

Roberta gave a fantastic performance! After looking at her tour schedule on-line, I was in awe that Hancher was able to secure her for a concert as it appears she does very few shows. Kudos for bringing her to the Hancher audience. Her voice was as powerful and as fascinating as ever.
My only comment, albeit one that is not related to Roberta’s performance, is that I beg you to keep educating the audience about wearing perfume to public performances. In my asthmatic condition, an excess of fragrance can send me to the emergency room! And there was some powerful fragrance in the row(s) behind me last Saturday night!
Thanks for all you do (even the little details like perfume) to bring the arts to Iowa!

What a joy it was to see this music icon on stage and hearing her sing all of the songs we know! Her voice was still amazingly beautiful!! I am so impressed that she is out on tour, at her age. I felt bad that she was so arthritic…but once she sat down to sing…lovely!! Wonderful! Loved it!

Very enjoyable concert. Wished it could've been longer and that she'd played more of her own music, but given RF's age and health, no objections at all. Very glad H brought her here.
Thanks and best wishes,

What an amazing performance and setting. The audience was enthralled and we all left singing in our heads...and hearts.

I was with 2 others and we all loved the show! Thanks so much for sponsoring so we could show Roberta how Iowa appreciated her musical talents. What a gifted woman!

Awesome concert, but it was too short. She barely played 80 minutes.

Great concert! Even with her failing health, Roberta Flack is an awesome musical presence! Her accompanying band members are extremely talented musicians. I also like the Riverside venue as it provides a more intimate experience for the audience. Thank you for bringing this great lady to Iowa.

Roberta Flack concert was great!! Nice hearing some “real” music for a change. Hope to see more concerts of this quality when the new Hancher opens.

Credible performer in spite of her physical frailties. Really enjoyed the show.

Roberta Flack was great. However, at the last two Hancher events we have attended, there have been increasing problems with people using their cell phones during the performances. You might expect to be flashed intermittently by these beacons of light at a sporting event, a political rally, or a rock concert, but you would expect more constraint at a Hancher event. (I might add this was not a problem at all at the more casual Club Hancher event we attended). People who are most imposing with this are as often as not older and seem to feel a sacred entitlement to impose the light of their phone on others at their whim. Should you dare to suggest that the extreme of holding their huge bright screen directly in your line of sight for an exteneded period is a problem, you need to be prepared to be hit with a snarky, near threatening retort. Should it be Hancher’s policy to allow this, potential audience members should be forewarned.

Roberta flack is such a beautiful, graceful soul. She reminds me of glenda the good witch, so regal. What a lovely, kind hearted woman. Thrilled I was able to meet her. Concert was fantastic! I bought her let it be cd. So soothing to listen to when feeling stressed. I love her!
