My wife and I are very much enjoying the differing venues where events are being held. While the Englert isn’t perfect, it was good enough for Luna Negra. The dance performances were excellent.

Fantastic! Let's have more events like this!

I thought they were terrible. The performance looked like a rehearsal with arbitrary bits following one another. Their gestures and movements looked more like warm up exercises repeated over and over for their own sake. I might even go so far as to call them cliche. I realize that we were looking at basically "classical" modern dance (I expected to hear Appalachian Spring on the sound track at any moment), but I don't remember the old stuff being so cloying. Perhaps it got better after the 2nd intermission, but I wasn't there to see it. Why is the word contemporary used in their promotion?

WE think that the last two performances--the string group from Venice and this dance group have been the best things this year. More of both please.
