It was just a fluke that we decided to drive the 2.5 hours from Decorah to catch Rosanne's show. Wanted to visit my daughter so it was a good opportunity. What a great show. Much more than I expected. I thought the sound mix was very good. We were in the front balcony right and it was such that we could understand every beautiful word she sang. A rare occasion indeed.
thanks for the show.

Lucky us!!! Rosanne Cash and the back-up ensemble were very professional during the first half to two-thirds of the concert as you would expect of a touring group of their caliber and had it continued like that it would have been a good concert However, something changed during the last part of the concert and we had a neat opportunity to see “Country & Western Artists” performing because they love it not just because they are professional performers and it is their job. Maybe it was because she had a cold and started feeling better as the concert went along but I more think she and group warmed to the welcoming, appreciative audience and they got excited about performing. Like a spark starting a fire, the magic started to build on stage. They went from playing to having fun playing, enjoying their ability to move us with their music and we got that special look at what it is like to be talented and “on” as a performer.. A good night became a “Great Night”! Lucky us!!!

It was a great pleasure to attend An Evening With Rosanne Cash. I salute the Hancher organization for recognizing the great depth of her art, and for bringing that art to the diverse and discerning Hancher clientele. The evening yielded some revelations that couldn’t be found anywhere else.
Cheers,

We enjoyed the show very much. Out seats were comfortable and getting in and out was fast. We would seriously consider coming to other shows of this kind.

I took my twenty something daughter with me and we both enjoyed it. Roseanne's low key style worked well in a more intimate atmosphere like the Englert. Her energy level seemed a little low the first 30 minutes or so. Maybe she was a little under the weather. However, she picked up as the evening went on and finished on a high. Her changing backdrops were great "mood setters" for songs too. Her husband Joe is one great lead guitar player too. They really complement each other.

We absolutely LOVED everything about the show last night!! Rosanne was great and her band was wonderful. This was our first time at the Engelart Theater. Although we were sitting in the back we were able see everything well. Thank you for bringing this show to Iowa City!

Rosanne Cash was wonderful. We really enjoyed her and her new songs from The List. She is a great performer and talks to the crowd. Her voice is so beautiful and what a wonderful list of songs her dad left her. I was a Rosanne fan in the 80's and after seeing her perform live I even like her more. I hope she comes back to IA again and we would definitely go see her again. Loved the show!! We bought a couple of her CD's.

You have probably begun to figure out that I am rather eclectic in my tastes. – I like nearly everything. In this case, I roomed with a man from north central Iowa in undergraduate school. He was a serious country-western buff and guitar player. He sang constantly. Irritating at first, I came to enjoy country music – especially the lyrics. It is a pleasure that has increased over the years. I had no knowledge or feeling about Ms. Cash – not being familiar with her music. My wife does not generally like country-western music at all. However, we both very much enjoyed the evening. I was pleased at her song selection – very nostalgic for me. Of course, “500 miles” is a country-music mainstay. My wife enjoyed her voice, and especially liked the older romantic ballads. It was a pleasant evening. I hope we have a chance to hear her again.

I enjoyed seeing Roseanne a lot. I had never seen her or her father, so it felt kind of like a double hit for me. My first reaction was wow, real country music for a change. That feeling stayed with me throughout the evening. Roseanne is the real thing, not some young screechy sounding person who squinches up his/her face a lot to reach a high note.
I am unused to hearing some of those songs at that slower pace. I'm not sure if it was because music is faster now for the most part, or if Roseanne slowed them down to fit her style. Because of that, Ode to Billie Joe and Little Black Banjo Box (?) felt like real rockers to me, and I enjoyed them as I wanted to be up there dancing with Rosie.
I hope that the response has been such that we will be given the opportunity to hear more important, historic country songs. I think it would be great if we had more historic revues of other genres of music from the last several decades before any more of the most important artists are gone. It was pure genius for Johnny to make that "list" and I hope that Rosie records more of the songs Johnny put on it for her, and for us, and that we get to hear her sing them right here in IC also.
I also hope that whoever is in charge of re-building Hancher shifts into the next higher gear and that this process doesn't drag out for the rest of my life. I Also, it is wonderful to be able to see such a good show in Englert, but I have not made it to any of the shows in the high schools and am not sure I ever will as I don't even know where the schools are. It also doesn't have the unique feeling that makes a night out seem special when one goes to a high school auditorium. or at least, it doesn't seem as if it would. If I am going to spend that much money, I want to feel as if I'm doing something very special.
One other thing---I really enjoyed the graphics on the screens behind the stage. I seldom noticed them changing, just that they had. It was the perfect background for such a good show.
Thank you.

Roseanne provided an evening of quality entertainment. My husband & I sat in row ‘F’ and if the sound could have been adjusted in order for us to more clearly hear her beautiful voice, it would have been a more memorable evening.
The sound of the drums and guitars often drowned out her voice and the instrumental music was painfully loud. It was a sigh of relief when the band left the stage and Roseanne entertained solo.
We would buy tickets to see her perform anytime she returned to Iowa City.
